YouTube Music Comes to Wear OS on New Samsung Smartwatches

Google’s YouTube Music streaming service has won a long-awaited version for the company’s wearable operating system, Wear OS. The public’s wait was already long — more specifically since October 2020, when Google Play Music was discontinued on the platform and did not gain a direct replacement.

However, the launch is still far from expected: only two new smartwatches from Samsung, the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, will have access to the application. Both were announced in early August this year and will be on the market from this Friday (27). For now, there is no scheduled date for other devices to receive the news.

As with other devices, YouTube Music for Wear OS brings benefits to those who are a Premium subscriber to the platform. They include the ability to download music and even listen using only Bluetooth headphones, without needing an internet connection. However, at least at this start, the app only does this process when the device is docked in the charger.

The Galaxy Watch 4 line was unveiled by Samsung on the same day as the presentation of the brand’s new folding cell phones. The products do not yet have an official price in Brazil, but will arrive in the country on September 15th.
